Now that the snow storms are over and the shovels are back in the garage, Sheila Bair and her FDIC crew is back to work and this week they shuttered 4 more banks.
140 banks were closed in 2009 and the 2010 total stands at 20. The estimated cost to the FDIC fund for these 4 bank closings is $1.065 billion.
The states vying for the gold medal in bank closings in 2010 are FL, MN and WA (3 bank closings per state). GA, CA and IL are vying for silver as they each have 2 bank closings year to date.
