Government Lingo

The U.S. Government is a master of diversionary descriptors. They are purveyors of puff. Each and every branch of the government surgically implants mini sound bites for the media in an effort to make sure the lemmings stay in their place. My God, if the American people truly comprehended the magnitude of each and every situation; there could be an uprising.

The Department of Defense clearly offers diversionary descriptor seminars to all other branches of the U.S. Government.

Operation Desert Storm…Storm; this was not broadcast on the

Weather Channel. When a siren goes off stateside during a rainstorm,

it is not followed by a round of mortars.

Troubled Asset Relief Program...you can't say this with a straight face

A parent is troubled when their child is not sleeping well.

A spouse is troubled when the other is on the verge of losing their job.

We as a country are troubled with the level of debt piled on our grandkids.

The "Assets" are purely and simply toxic!

The Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) does an excellent job applying diversionary descriptors and they are only second to the Department of Defense.

Marginally Attached Workers

Persons not in the labor force who want and are available for work, and who have looked for a job sometime in the prior 12 months (or since the end of their last job if they held one within the past 12 months), but were not counted as unemployed because they had not searched for workin the 4 weeks preceding the survey. Discouraged workers are a subset of the marginally attached.
