Treasury Department Reports $136 BILLION Budget Deficit for May 2010

Treasury Department Reports $136 BILLION Budget Deficit for May 2010 with a total fiscal year to date budget deficit of $935.6 BILLION. The May 2010 monthly budget deficit is $53.3 billion greater than the prior month.

The interest on Treasury debt securities for the month of May 2010 is $23.8 billion, which is 8 percent of the total current month Federal Outlays.

Receipts for May 2010 came in at $146.8 billion ($29.6 billion greater than May 2009).

Total receipts current fiscal year to date $1.346 trillion. For the same period during fiscal year 2009, total receipts were $1.373 trillion.

Total outlays current fiscal year to date $2.282 trillion. For the same period during fiscal year 2009, total outlays were $2.365 trillion.

Interest on Treasury Debt Securities current fiscal year to date $248.2 billion. For the same period during fiscal year 2009, interest was $214.0 billion.
