Darrell Issa (R-CA) recently obtained emails showing that the FRBNY pushed AIG to withhold information from public filings about payments to banks. In November, the FRBNY basically told Representative Issa to take a hike as they would not release specific documents requested by him without a subpoena.
Last week, Thomas Baxter (New York Fed’s general counsel) stated that Timothy Geithner wasn’t aware of efforts to limit AIG’s bailout disclosures because he didn’t think the issue merited Geithner’s attention.
Mr. Baxter, one should argue that given $170 billion of taxpayer funds flowing around the toilet bowl, courtesy of the Geithner/Hank Paulson desperados, that even a hang nail should merit Timmy’s attention.
Does Turbo Tax Timmy even recollect the following?
I (Timothy Geithner), do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; that I take this obligation freely without any mental reservation or purpose of evasion; and that I will well and faithfully discharge the duties of the office on which I am about to enter. So help me God.
What about that "purpose of evasion" thing Geithner?
